I am Gillian Trevett, let me tell you a little about myself.
My love of dogs, and of all animals, has been passed down from my Mum who grew up with various dogs including Fox Terriers & Jack Russell Terriers.
In my teenage years my love of horses led me to working with hunters and racehorses at Bridport. Cats were a large part of my life at that time too - they are a great natural rat and mouse deterrent; I wormed and flea-treated all the cats living in the stable yards.
I moved to America and worked on a stud farm with American Saddlebred Horse where I coached and trained young riders for the show ring. It was during my time in America that I bought my first dog, Kayla, a Rottweiler.
Kayla came home to England with me and over the years my love of dogs - and in particular Rotties - led me to owning and breeding this wonderful breed. Kayla was later joined by Saracen and then Lace, Odin, Shrek, Blush, Buffy and Neeko.
In addition to my Rotties I was introduced to the amazing Boston Terrier - namely Silk, Glee, Fletch and Lelu. Over the years all my dogs have lived together in the house with my husband Ray and I in perfect harmony.
Since 1994 all my dogs have qualified and competed at Crufts and I am very proud of their achievements. Lace and Blush have won their respective classes at the show and Fletch has been placed 2nd. In 2013 Neeko qualified for the semi-finals of the Kennel Club’s ‘Discover Dogs’ Good Citizen Obedience Stakes which was held at Earls Court London. He then went on to qualify for the finals which were held at Crufts the following year; we were unlucky not to be placed.
I also gained valuable experience handling various breeds of dog during my work at a Canine Hydrotherapy Centre in Milford on Sea. Most recently I have been gaining more valuable experience - with cats - at the Snuggle Inn Luxury Cat Hotel in Eastleigh; owners Jo and Adie Ellis will be happy to provide a reference to any potential ‘Sweet Harmony’ client who would like one.
